TransWall++

TransWall++ is a large-scale double-sided interactive installation developed for the opening of Shinsegae Art & Science Nexperium in Daejeon in late August 2021. Created during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was designed to let two people facing each other enjoy collaborative games through a transparent screen without direct physical contact. The system combines two large infrared touch sensor frames, a holographic screen film sandwiched between 5 mm glass panels, and two ultra-short-throw projectors to create an approximately 90-inch double-sided transparent touch display. Two surface transducers attached to the display provide vibration and tactile feedback, enhancing the sense of touching through the screen. TransWall++ includes three collaborative game experiences: Music Bubble, where two users rub the screen together to create sounds and harmonies; Touchable Fish Tank, where shared touches generate and nurture aquatic creatures; and World of Viruses, where users visually and tactually experience viral transmission and hygiene actions.
