Viewer2Explorer
Viewer2Explorer introduces a map-based video interface designed to transform the traditionally passive, linear 360-degree museum exhibition tour into an active spatial exploration experience. By integrating a color-coded map synced with the video timeline, the system allows users to navigate virtual spaces autonomously, manipulating orientation and position beyond the constraints of a standard timeline. Features such as "coins" for gamified motivation and path-selection at crossroads enhance internal and external engagement. Empirical evaluation through a between-subjects user study demonstrates that Viewer2Explorer significantly improves spatial awareness, sense of reality, and user satisfaction compared to conventional interfaces. This project highlights the potential for "dual immersion"—a blend of absorption and transportation—within web-based 360-degree video content, offering a scalable solution for remote museum experiences that balances assisted autonomy with pre-defined narrative flow
